Changes to Cervical Screening in England from 1st July 2025

Posted on:

Cervical screening is moving from 3-5 year intervals for those who are at low risk, aged 25-49.  This decision is based on strong evidence and recommended by the National Screening Committee.

Nothing else is changing.  If HPV is found, you’ll still be followed up sooner, just as before.

If you have already been given a date for your next test, then that that won’t change either.  These changes only apply to screening done on or after 1st July 2025.

And if anyone has had a recent history of an HPV positive test, or any changes to cells, they may also be followed up ore often – even if they are negative on their next test.
