Non-urgent advice: How to Request a Prescription
It is advised you order your medication approximately one week before your medication finishes, this allow the surgery time to process your prescription ready for collection.
As we no longer have access via our website to Patient Access or MyGP App, we would recommend you set up NHS App to request medication
NHS APP
Owned and run by the NHS. The NHS app is the most simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet. The NHS app is available now on iOS and Android. You can view your current repeat medication and order the items you require.

HRT Pre-Payment Certificate
From the 1 April, the Government is launching the HRT Pre-Payment Certificate (PPC) to reduce prescription costs for women receiving Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
The HRT PPC will be available to buy in one single payment online at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/hrt-ppc, or in-person at some pharmacies. You can call 0300 330 2089 for help and support.
Before buying an HRT PPC, you should check if:
- you’re eligible for free NHS prescriptions using the eligibility checker: www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/check
- your medicine is covered by the HRT PPC. For a list of eligible HRT medication, visit: www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/hrt-ppc-medicines
- a 3 or 12 month PPC is more suitable. It covers all NHS prescriptions, not just HRT items. Visit: www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/ppc
Patient Information
Please note, for medical legal reasons & patient safety, prescription requests will not be taken over the telephone.
Ensure to order your medication in a timely manner to allow the surgery time to process your request. Most prescriptions are now sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy
Allow at least three full working days for your prescription to be processed. Not all medications will be put onto a repeat prescription. This will depend on the type of medication, the duration of treatment and the medications safety profile. This decision will be made between the patient and the doctor or the clinical pharmacist at the surgery.
What to do with old medicines
Take any old or unwanted medication to the pharmacy you got it from, please do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Pharmacy First Scheme
Patients can now get treatment for seven common conditions directly from their local pharmacy, without the need for a GP appointment or prescription.
The Pharmacy First scheme was launched by the government and NHS England on 31 January 2024 to give patients quick and accessible care and ease pressure on GP services.
What are the seven common conditions?
· Sinusitis
· Sore throat
· Earache
· Infected insect bite
· Impetigo (a bacterial skin infection)
· Shingles
· Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women.
How can I access treatment from my pharmacy?
You can get treatment for these conditions by walking into the pharmacy or contacting them virtually. GP receptionists, NHS 111 and providers of emergency care will also be able to direct patients to pharmacies that offer the service, if contacted.
